Prayer is the secret language of the heart. Prayer is the way in which God becomes present to a Franciscan Sister of the Sacred Heart. Prayer is a song sometimes sung in words that give directions, other times merely music suggesting mood, and still other times it is rest in the middle of a measure yielding to silence. But always for a Franciscan, this melody of the heart is a harmony with the one Word, Jesus Christ, spoken by our loving God.
The heart is the Eucharist...

Prayer, both personal and communal, is the center of gravity for all other aspects of life for a Franciscan Sister of the Sacred Heart. And at the very heart of Franciscan spirituality is the Eucharist, the focal point toward which love continually draws and from which it continuously flows.
Love and prayer sing harmoniously as one in the life of a Franciscan Sister of the Sacred Heart. Just as Francis sought his God and found Christ in the depths of solitude and in the faces and lives of the people about him, so too a Franciscan Sister of the Sacred
Embracing a Gospel-centered life!
Heart is called to cherish the presence of God within and to grow in her ministry of love. She is called to become a living prayer: the presence of Christ to the people with whom and for whom she ministers. She is to see Christ in each life that touches hers. She is to be Christ, a song of good news.

Sharing in God's love
Each day an hour is set aside for private prayer. This is a time to develop her relationship with God that calls her to embrace a Gospel-centered life. She also joins with the Church in communally praying the daily Liturgy of the Hours and celebrating at Eucharistic Liturgy, remembering her place in a global Church family. Days are set aside for retreats, renewal, reflection, hermitage days of solitude - days to spend time looking deeply within, as Francis did, to find the God who permeates all of creation and calls her to dance and share joyously and intimately in the goodness of Christ's love as she serves the Church today.
